You’ve heard of Western medicine, and no doubt you’ve heard of Chinese medicine. But have you heard of Indian medicine, otherwise known as ayurvedic medicine? It’s actually one of the world's oldest holistic healing systems, and has been practised for more than 3,000 years.

ALL ABOUT AYURVEDA

Ayurvedic medicine is based on the belief that our health depends on a good balance of the mind, body and spirit, and any imbalance can cause illness.

Some of the products used by Ayurvedic practitioners include herbs, metals and minerals.

Ayurvedic medicine is also widely used in the West - you may even be incorporating some of its practices in your own diet and lifestyle without even realising. Especially if you’re a TYME customer!

TUMERIC

Turmeric is indiginous to India, and integral to ayurvedic medicine. The spice is believed to reduce inflammation in the body, which decreases the risk of developing many diseases, including heart disease. It’s also used for its antibacterial properties, and for joint health.

MORINGA

Moringa comes from the so-called ‘miracle tree’, and has been used for centuries as a medicine. Like turmeric, it’s thought that moringa can help to reduce inflammation, and is also used for its antifungal and antiviral properties.

The moringa leaf has been shown to help lower blood pressure and improve markers of diabetes and cancer - although researchers do say the evidence is inconclusive as of yet.

HOW TO USE AYURVEDIC INGREDIENTS

Tumeric and moringa are both a part of TYME’s frequently used ingredients, used to bring extra vitality, flavour and health benefits to dishes such as the Golden Californian.
